Common plant nutrient deficiency symptoms on leaves

​Nitrogen Deficiency

Nitrogen is one of the most important nutrients for plant growth. It plays a critical role in chlorophyll production and vegetative development.
Plants lacking nitrogen often show:
  • Yellowing of older leaves
  • Slow or stunted growth
  • Pale green foliage
  • Reduced leaf size
Because nitrogen is a mobile nutrient, plants will move it from older leaves to support new growth, which is why older leaves show symptoms first.
How to Correct It
Nitrogen deficiencies can usually be corrected by applying a balanced nutrient solution that provides readily available nitrogen. Consistent feeding during the vegetative stage is especially important to support strong leaf and stem development.
